Seller's broker vs. buyer's broker
Seller's broker
- Hired by the domain owner
- Paid from the sale
- Works to get the seller more
NameUpgrade: buyer's broker

- Works to get you the name, on the best terms
What we do as your domain buyer's agent
- Research the owner and the name's history, including WHOIS history and the owner's other domains.
- Tell you honestly whether the name is gettable before any outreach.
- Approach the owner in our name, keeping your company confidential.
- Negotiate within your limit, with every offer approved by you.
- Handle the escrow, the agreement and the transfer to your account.

Questions
What is a buy-side domain broker?
A broker who represents the buyer, not the seller. Most domain brokers list names for sellers and are paid by them. A buy-side broker works only for you: finding the owner, negotiating the best terms and closing safely.
How is a buyer's broker paid?
By the buyer, never the seller. At NameUpgrade the domain check is free, and a search engagement fee is credited against the success fee, which applies only when the domain is yours.
Why not just use a marketplace's brokerage service?
Marketplace brokers often also work with sellers. An independent buyer's broker has one job: getting you the name on the best terms.
Can you buy a domain for my company without revealing who we are?
Yes. That's one of the main reasons companies hire a buyer's broker. We negotiate in our own name.
